JOB SUMMARY:
The Preventive Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on manufacturing equipment to support reliability, safety, and operational efficiency. This role focuses on routine inspections, servicing, and basic maintenance activities to prevent equipment failure. The position may assist with corrective maintenance and repairs as directed but does not serve as the primary resource for complex troubleshooting or equipment repair.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE (PRIMARY FOCUS):
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on production equipment in accordance with established maintenance schedules and procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to identify potential issues.
- Lubricate, clean, adjust, and service equipment to maintain proper operation.
- Replace worn or consumable components such as belts, filters, seals, and hoses.
- Complete preventive maintenance checklists and accurately document all work performed.
EQUIPMENT INSPECTION & RELIABILITY SUPPORT:
- Identify early signs of equipment wear, malfunction, or failure and report findings to maintenance leadership.
- Assist in maintaining equipment reliability through consistent and thorough PM execution.
- Support basic condition monitoring activities as assigned.
MAINTENANCE SUPPORT (LIMITED/AS DIRECTED):
- Assist Maintenance Mechanics with equipment repairs, teardown, and reassembly as directed.
- Perform basic corrective maintenance tasks within defined skill level.
- Support maintenance activities during downtime, shutdowns, or special projects.
PRODUCTION & COORDINATION SUPPORT:
- Coordinate with production teams to perform maintenance with minimal disruption.
- Communicate equipment concerns and maintenance findings to supervisors and maintenance staff Safety & Compliance.
- Follow all company safety policies, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe work practices.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Identify and report safety hazards, equipment risks, and unsafe conditions.
- Ensure all maintenance work is performed in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements Equipment Operation.
- Operate forklifts, cranes and other material handling equipment as trained and certified General Responsibilities.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with housekeeping standards.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned, consistent with business needs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial equipment.
- Ability to follow maintenance procedures, checklists, and work instructions.
- Ability to use hand tools and basic maintenance equipment.
- Ability to identify and report equipment issues.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently on routine tasks and as part of a team.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to understand and follow all departmental and company safety rules.
- Ability to understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Training in lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures as applicable to assigned tasks.
- Ability to learn and follow applicable ISO procedures and standards.
- Operation of forklifts and material handling equipment (must be trained and certified in accordance with company and OSHA requirements).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic mechanical experience or exposure in a manufacturing, maintenance, or related environment.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English as required to safely perform job duties and understand instructions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience performing preventive maintenance in an industrial environment.
- Familiarity with maintenance checklists, CMMS systems, or work order systems.
